My experiance in this is as follows...I rescued a female Rottie from a mill..she also was left in a cage and very very timid and shy. I already had a male rottie at home and she fell in love he was her everything!!!!! she followed behind him and he spoke for her, he protected her all that fun stuff.....So my experiance with this is yes it helped tremendously...but every dog is different. I wish you all the luck in the world on your decision and I COMMEND you to the fullest for rescuing Timmy. There is a special spot for people like you in heaven!!!!!
