Luna to be spayed, very very soon!! HELP! Sorry for my "all of the sudden postings" but I had to make two in order to seperate the two topics and not get topics confused.
I've been meaning to ask around her about spaying. The vet called us a day or two ago to remind us that it's time to consider spaying Luna. I have a few questions and would appreciate if anyone can give me their opinions.
1- The vet uses gas mask, I believe that's what it's called, then a tracheal tube to facilitate air for breathing during the surgery. Is that method ok for yorkie's of Luna's size...4lbs? I am very afraid of the tracheal tube since collapsed tracheas are common in yorkies.
2- Approximately how long is the recovery? I want to be able to plan it with time that way I can be here with Luna. I have spring break in mid March, so I was thinking of having her spayed on a friday then having the weekend and the spring break week to be with her.
3- Cost and insurances?! My vet tellls me that the total for the surgery would be around $240. She also wants to have a stool sample and blood work done on Luna before the surgery, which isn't included in the $240. I was wondering if anyone here uses a pet insurance to cover surgeries like spaying and how much do you pay? Or if there's a website I can visit for information that would be great!
4- Finally, anything I should expect that way I won't be afraid if something doesn't seem normal.
Thanks you all, once again.
