Just deleting files does not get "rid" of data either. There are computer hacks out there that can get information off of disks even though you think it has been deleted.

when I have reformatted my hard drive I lost EVERYTHING...it was brought back to the state that I bought it. when I say reinstall your operating system I mean delete the one that is there (and in turn you delete all files etc) there will be options when you put the OS disk in what you have to choose is "format" that will clean the whole hard drive out.
