Default Luxating Patellas :(

My new boy was to the vet yesterday and was diagnosed with Luxating Patellas grade 3 in bothe back knees and possible collapsing trachia

I am very upset and up in the air about just what I am going to do. My state has a strict puppy Lemon law which will protect me but I'm still quite upset and don't know really what Is REALLy the best thing . I know alot of you will say if I really loved him I would keep him, but I have to also really think of all the consequences and weigh everything out. First of all I paid a PREMIUM price for him and let's face it... money does matter if you don't have alot of it. Second, I canonly imagine all the extra costs ahead for me over the years, not to mention all the heartbreak to come by watching him in pain and going through everything. Yes he can probably have surgeries but once again..... I don't have that kind of extra money and I spent every bit of extra I had and will have buying him in the first place. I budgeted for regular care and food and toys and vet visits and even a bit extra for minor emergencies, but a whole operation that is VERY expensive I did NOT budget that kind of money. There also is added in the possibility of the collapising trachea, which the vet says he can not verify completely at this time... That is a whole extra painful trauma to think of and it would just be compounding the money and also pain issues for myself and him.

So now I am waiting to hear back from where I bought him from. I went there in person , and made them sign the DR. report verifying I showed it to them during the warranty period. I guess I just have to see if they call me back and what they are willing to offer and then decide what I am willing to accept as an answer. The Lemon law here is... Full refund or exchange for comparable puppy or can keep puppy and be reimbursed reasonable vet fees, which can be tricky to interpret .
Anyway I have heard nothing yet , but will wait one more day before calling them back.
