Bleach kills germs, but isn't effective on removing the "odor" that makes dogs return to the same spot. Any of the pet cleaners that have an enzyme in them will work because the enzyme actually "eats" the protein that is causing the odor. You can't smell this, but they can. Actually, if they were going to have a mistake, I would rather it be on the linoleum rather than the carpet, and the enzyme cleaners are really necessary for carpets.
