The issue you need to address is your controlling boyfriend. Get rid of him and then make your own decisions about the dog and the rest of your life. Do you want to spend your life with him threatening to leave you every time you disagree? What happens when you have two or three kids? That isn't caring or love, it's control, and it can get very ugly.
