I understand how you're feeling! I went to Mexico for 7 days in January, and I left Layla with my parents. I was so worried about leaving her, but I think it was harder on me than it was on her! I did have email access in the hotel and I emailed my dad and he told me that Layla was also enjoying her vacation! On my last night I missed her so much I almost cried, and I was so excited to get home and see her again. She was really excited when I got there, but I don't think she was too worried while I was gone! Will you be able to check back in with his other "parent" while you're gone? That would probably ease your mind a bit!
