You absolutely did the right thing. I always head for the vet when I get concerned. Much better to be safe than sorry.
I had a cat once who was expecting, she labored off and on all day and still no kittens. I drove to the vet, waited in the waiting room, put her on the exam table and out popped a kitten. Got back in the car and started driving home, she had another one in my lap. Put that one in the box, started driving again and she had another one in my lap. Drove to a friends house and she had two more there. Finally got everyone home. So see, better safe than sorry.
