Oh my you are a lot braver than I was. I would not let Jeter sleep with me till he was potty trained first. we trained him to potty outside using the crate method, and he was about 4 months old when he was 100% trained. I have not had him piddle in our bed ever.
I don't have a clue how the pee pad training works because I did not go that rout. The only suggestion I would have for you is that you could use a belly band for male dogs. You can find them at Petco or on line pet stores, or if you are creative, you could make your own. also I think i read that you could use a baby diaper and wrap it around him that way too, no clue what size the person used or how old her puppy was but I think a newborn would be too big !!
