I know it's not the best thing to do to use these products but when your
dog is outdoors 4x a day and playing with other dog's and walking and
rolling around in the grass daily because he loves it so much, you do what you
can to protect him/her. Frontline works well for Buddy however IT DOES NOT
KILL ALL TICKS. It only kills some ticks. So don't be surprised if you see
a tick buried in your pet having lunch and it's not dying. I called Frontline
last year about this very thing and they told me to read the SMALL print
where it states not all ticks are killed with this product.
This year Frontline came out with another product and it is suppose to kill
all ticks within 3hrs. I started using it two months ago and Buddy has had
no side effects. It's called Vectra 3D. He has never had a flea but has
had a couple ticks that did not die and I had to have them removed.
I have never found anything in my bed. Thank heavens. I want us both
protected and we live in a high flea/tick area in NY so I have to do what
I have to do. I don't like taking medication either, I'm not a pill person
but when you have to you have to. My neighbor used an holistic remedy
given to her by her holistic vet and her dog was infested with fleas last
summer and they were in her house as well. I am not willing to take that
chance. I stop the flea/tick meds from Nov-March every year giving him
a break.
I also, years ago, used the Hartz collar on my other two dogs for 17 and 15yrs respectably. Never any kind of side effects and never a flea or tick on them and the were in the yard every day for hours running and playing.
You have to do what you think is right. Watch for any signs of discomfort
then stop. I have never had anykind of problem so far. Finger's crossed
I don't.
