The first pen we used our second girl climbed out constantly and she would just drop to the floor. For her safety and our sanity we put a heavy plywood top on it. No way she could get out then. I agree with a previous post. They can't be left unsupervised when your not home until the destructive phase is over. Do they have lots of things to chew on and play with? As far as licking goes our Ellie Mae is like that. She's a year and a half now and still does it. For whatever reason its just in her to do it. Crate training is really pretty simple. They are in it whenever you can't supervise them. Ours is 4x4 and quite pleasant for them to be in. They don't seem to mind. It did however take a little time for them to adjust. We keep everything they will need in it. Food, water, pee pad, toys and a soft bed. Hope this helps. Keep us posted.
