Just adopted a YorkiePoo - Advice please! I have 2 yorkies, Rickles(male) 8 years old and Gleason(male) 11 months old. Wednesday a friend of mine who volunteers to take photos and put them on petfinder for our local shelter (we both are on the board and volunteer there) called and said I just had to come down and see the little 9 month old yorkiepoo that had been surrendered that day. They said he was too hard to housebreak and they hadn't even given him a name. Well against my better judgement I went down and sure enough he was such a cute little thing and so sweet. I ended up adopting him and getting him neutered. I picked him up Thursday and took him home. He paid no attention to my cats which was great and he flipped on his back to let Rickles know he wasn't an alpha but things are going up and down. He wants to play after Rickles tires out and has to bark at him to leave him alone and Gleason would love to play with him but most the time all he sees is Rickles. One minute they are getting along and running through the house playing and then Rickles and Gleason will look sad when the new puppy gets in my lap and go lay on a different couch or something. Do you think I did the right thing. I don't want my boys to be sad - this puppy just gets so excited and wants them to play all the time. I have a friend that would love to have him but I'm not ready to give up yet, what do you think? Maybe I'm just not being patient enough but Rickles has been through so much and I don't want him to feel he can't relax in his on home. Sorry this is so long. |
