First off I want to welcome you and your mom to YT. Next, tell your mom to find another Vet. because a reputable Vet. would never say things like that to anyone. It does't sound like she has any knowledge about Yorkies. They DO come in all sizes. The original Yorkies were around 20 pounds, and at that time ladies were wanting little lap dogs, so the breed started being altered to breed smaller and smaller. Even today people are wanting 1 and 2 pound Yorkies. I think it's a big mistake.
My Zada was 2 pounds at 4 months, and now she is a healthy 10 pound 3 years, 5 months old. My Azrael was 3 pounds at 7 months and now at 3 years, 4 months, weighs over 8 pounds. My Razael was only 2 pounds at 4 months and is now over 5 pounds at 8 months. So you see, they can end up a larger size Yorkie even if they are tiny at 2, 3, or 4 months of age.
All of here at YT that have big or small fur-kids are totally in love with them. They are our "kids" for sure!!!
