Little Ranger had an umbilical hernia. The breeded sold him for $200 less than the other pups in the litter. We planned to have it fixed when he was neutered at about six months. The surgery was delayed one week as my vet got stuck out of town this winter with the horrible weather, and then the day that he had the surgery, the intestine had begun to strangle. My vet said that if we hadn't have fixed it THAT DAY (Thursday), he would have died during the weekend. He had to cut out necrotic (dead) intestine. Ranger never took an off step. It was the scariest thing ever.
I don't think it's a big deal, but I would get it fixed at the earliest time you could get him neutered as it is much easier and safer to do it all at the same time. Good luck, he is darling!!!! |
