If Trace and I are at work alone (and that's the key word), generally he's sleeping under my desk, when someone comes in....he goes running and howls at them. He only barks at someone when we're alone....like he knows there is noone else here to protect me. Then he immediately crouches down and wags his tail as if to say he's sorry.
At home he only barks IF he sees something or hears something out of our sunroom. This can actually be something like an animal or just something out of place...a ball sitting on the sidewalk. He thinks you can never be too careful
He doesn't bark when someone rings the doorbell, but he has learned to go run to the door....even if the doorbell sound is coming from the television
