Well I probably can't be of much help b/c my Yorkie goes to work with me everyday! lol But when I first got him I was still in school and it could be difficult leaving him all day while I was in classes. I just made sure he got lots of love in the mornings before I left and lots of love in the evening once I got home. He adjusted well to the situation, although I must say he likes going to work with me a lot more than staying home!
