Check with your local SPCA also to se if they offer the vouchers you can take to the vet. In my area (Raleigh, North Carolina), the list of vets who honor the voucher is long.

The problem with the spay/neuter clinics is that is all they do - just the spay or neuter. It is essential that you get pre op bloodwork, especially with a Yorkie since they are 36 times more likely to have a liver shunt than all other breeds combined. It will alert the vet to any problem she might have that could make anesthesia dangerous and could save her life.

Yorkies also tend to retain baby teeth. It is customary to remove them during the spay, but a spay/neuter clinic will not do that. If you have to have it done separately, it will cost several hundred dollars and, require another anesthesia for her. I will be much cheaper to have it done during her spay even if you can't get a voucher.
