Do you want a point-and-shoot or a DSLR? Because those are definitely 2 different animals.

If it's a point-and-shoot - maybe the Panasonic Lumix DMC FMX-07 (hope I have that right). One of the nice things about this very tiny camera is that it 1) has a LEICA lens 2) has nice zoom 3) Is tiny, portable, and easy 4) Can be found cheap on Ebay or elsewhere.

If you want a DSLR - I'd recommend the Nikon D40, D80 or D200 (if you want a sub-pro).
