Your vet should have an ear solution that prevents this from happening... This solution is squirted into the ear canal, you gently rub the ear, then allow your dog to shake excess out of the ear... Done daily for extreme cases or weekly... The solution I buy is called OTI SOOTHE, but your vet may have other just as good... Hope your baby recovers promptly...
