It's been a little over a year since I introduced Diggs (yorkie) to Potter and Lucy (cats). It was definitely traumatic for them! They used to be the king/queen of the house but now there is a little man constantly around. I ended up getting a baby gate to keep Diggs out of one room in the house and they make that "their" room. At night he sleeps in my room so they get full run of the house. Also, whenever I take him anywhere they emerge almost immediately and I think they really look forward to when I take him out on walks! While it isn't perfect it has definitely gotten better since the beginning. I think the cats have adjusted to him- they may not be happy but at least they understand he is around (and when he is not). He just wants to play with them and they are NOT interested.

The good news is that they are still happy and very loving cats. Since it has gotten better I am content with that for the time being. I agree with cataholic who said it depends on the cat- my girl cat Lucy is doing a much better job with Diggs. I wish you the best of luck socializing them!!
