My favorite place was the Soggy Dollar Bar. I forget what island it was on. They didn't have a dock, so you have to stuff all your money in your bathing suit and swim to shore....(you could take the dinghy, but that wouldn't be the same).
Eating out is pretty expensive, but my friends had expensive taste. I think there are some reasonable options.
I never did go to the USVI, unfortunately.
I am a former sailor, and have a lot of friends who have done the round-the-world cruise thing. There was a time when I really wanted to do it also, but now I think I would go a little crazy confined to a 50 foot (at best) sailboat.
I hope you have a wonderful time! |
A sailor? That's very cool. The ocean and I don't get along
I never thought their adventure would happen. I figured it was one of those dreams that everyone has that never quite comes together. Neither one had much sailing experience two years ago when they started making plans. They studied, left Alaska for some kind of course where they got certification to sail solo. They bought a boat, though I can't remember what size. And now it looks like they're going through with it. To be honest, I won't believe it till I see it -- and that gives me a great excuse to go to the Virgin Islands!
