One word: COUPONS!!!! Sunday paper is chock full usually. There are lots of different ones online. Many areas even mail you some each week.
I have always been a clipper but the past six months or so, I have been hell on wheels! We also have a store in town that about every other Thursday gives you $10 off a $50 or more purchase so I wait for those to get the bulk of things.
A few weeks ago, I had about $7 of coupons, got the extra $10 off -- total bill was $40 and some change.
And gas ... don't get me started. Just paid $3.90 a gallon.
