I grew up in house on hill with three ponds in front yard. My Scottie once grabbed a bullfrog and promptly let him go. Strathpeffer literally foamed at the mouth for several minutes afterward and seemd to try to spit or something for an hour or so afterward. He suffered no ill effects. These frogs/toad do secrete something as a natural defense. We did not take him to vet because my father, a physician, was home and was watching him.
Now that I have a small Yorkie, I might head to vet if it kept up over five minutes.
