I am so sorry for the loss of your Dad. Dogs really do feel the loss as well.
They can get depressed just like people.

We recently had a death in the family, my SIL Dad and he was so close
to their MinPin. Poor dog is, after a month, still very sad, loose stools and
constanly looks at the door waiting for him to walk threw it. If only you
could explain it to them so they would understand.
