Well let's see....you could've had a protein c test done for probably under 75 bucks....the surgery is costing you what? $2500? More? I would NOT under any circumstances have one of mine....especially a puppy...undergo unnecessary surgery.

I hope you are aware..."fixing" the shunt doesn't necessarily mean he won't take medicines or be on a special diet his entire life....
