My understanding is that your child had to qualify for the child tax credit (they only qualify for that through age 16). The whole child tax credit stopping at age 16 drives me nuts, the last 2 years are the most expensive years!

Also, only those filing jointly with income $150,000 or less will get a rebate. The lady who did our taxes said that the closer you're income is to the $150,000.00 mark the less you get. It doesn't make sense the me either. This is my understanding.
