Sophie does the same thing in a way...and its not scary ....lol
My college boys...wear baseball hats..and when they have been gone and come home with that hat on...Sophie acts like some strange bad person is in the house....
Then ...as you say...when the hat comes off...all is good..kissy, kissy..lol

Megan..my son use to play fooball in High School too...that was before Sophie...I bet she would really run for cover if she saw him all decked out in his uniform!
