No, don't hold them a lot the first 2 weeks. Just check them out, kiss them and give 'em back to Kallie. Don't let others touch them (your children will want to but make them wash their hands first) but don't let them touch the belly area or the face (while you are holding the pup). Just let them touch/pet the top of the head and the pup's back. Kallie may act completely different (very protective of the pups). Don't act nervous to pick them up and check them out or she will become nervous about you doing it. I always pet the Mamma and tell her what a good job she did, focusing on her and praising her then just check out the pups nonchalantly and tell her what a good Mamma she is. Keep the focus on Kallie at first. She will barely want to leave them long enough to pee for the first 3 days. She will have to pee frequently though. DON'T panic when she may still be bleeding some for a few weeks or so. You may want to pick her up while holding a towel around her bottom to take her out to pee. You'll notice after the pups are born that they will try to go back to where they came from. This is normal. Unless the Mamma is a mess, I don't bath her until the 3rd day. Oh boy, I think I may be getting carried away. Let me know if I can help with anything.
