I learned to eat okra fried in a frying pan. slice the okra and some onion. Fry in a bit a oil (not deep fat fried) Once the okra was turning brown it meant it was done. When you take if off the heat you crumble crackers (the rectangular butter ones, not saltines.)into it. The cracker soak up what litte oil was there and also keeps the okra from being slimey (I know that does make is sound so good) We kids would fight over who got the okra (7 kids in my family, so we had to argue over all of the good stuff!) |
