If you are using any type of weed killer, the dogs must stay off for at least a full 24 hours afterwards. I would also be careful with a standard fertilizer even without week killer. Make sure it gets watered in the lawn very well after that 24 hour period and wipe their paws for several days afterwards as well. And, I wouldn't let them out to play - just potty and right back in.
