I would suggest you scroll back through some threads here on the breeder's forum. There have been some great discussions in the last month or so. You'll see some threads about Yorkie health issues, whelping preparation and many things to watch for during pregnancy, whelping and after. There really is a lot to consider and it ain't all fun and games....just read some of the recent tragic threads then ask yourself do you still want to do it? Don't count on breeding Yorkies being simple. You must be prepared for any number of things and most of all, you must be there when whelping time comes. Toy breeds can have a much more difficult time than other breeds. The list goes on and on. Do some more research and when you have a specific question, you can get some great advice here. Two good books to get are The New Complete Yorkshire Terrier by Joan Gordon and The Joy of Breeding Your Own Show Dog by Ann Serane. |
