All Yorkies grow at a different rate. I wouldn't worry that you are doing something wrong, and you can't always tell their weight by the sire and dam. There could be bigger sizes somewhere down their lineage. Some will have a fast growth spurt and then just stop, and fill out a bit. Others will take up to 2 yrs to get to their full adult weight. If you can feel his ribs, but not excessively, then he is probably proper weight. But it is always good to check with your vet as well.
