My vet charges $48 for a basic office visit and $35 for a recheck. Rechecks used to be free.
I read a few years ago that we could expect to see vet office visits and charges for services to go up to compensate for the loss of income since so many people aren't doing annual vaccinations anymore. Apparently that was about 25% of their income. I sure have seen it at my vet's. They have now even attached a fee to review xrays! I mean really, wouldn't that be expected to be part of the charge? I never get out of there for under $100 now and that is for the most basic visit.
Oddly enough, I have found it cheaper to go to Lady's opthamologist. It is a beautiful facility for veterinary specialists and you would think it would be a lot more expensive. The basic visit is $65, but they charge much less for the same tests and prescriptions than my vet does.
