We got a placenta, but no more puppies yet. She doesn't seem to be in any distress, so I think I'll wait until morning.

The thing is I took her in on Tuesday, because she was having a dark bottle green discharge. Everyhting I've read says that that's a bad sign before any puppies have been born. The vet did an xray and said she was completely opened up but that the puppies were at least 2 weeks away from being mature enough to deliver. All she did was give me an antibiotic for possible infection.

It doesn't make sense that the puppies weren't mature enough, because the one living puppy weighs 4.2 ounces. That's the average size, at birth, of the puppies from her last litter and the average size of the puppies in Ciara's litter when they were born. He cries and sucks and moves around just fine.

I think the vet was wrong and if Cookie had had a c-section that day all her puppies would have been fine.
