I noticed that your Tiffany is almost 13 lbs so do you think that she got bigger because she is a bigger dog.. I can't believe how huge Kallie's belly is. To me it seems like she is having 8 of them or more... Should I be able to count babies by feeling them myself or is that impossible? Do they ususally start showing signs long before labor or can some dogs act normal all day and eat and then suddenly that night go into labor?? | I'd keep her off the couch and she is looking pretty big to me through her belly...I don't think she should be any bigger for carring 2 or 3 puppies...
Tiffanie was a larger what I call "Teapot Yokie" she was around 10.5 lbs. normal prepregancy weight..
Oh day #50 of her pregnancy she weighed: 12 lbs. 6.5 oz.
Day # 63 of her pregancy (The day before she whelped) she weigh: 13 lbs. 10 oz...
6/22/07 Day after her whelping she went back down to 10 lbs. 5.5 oz.
But don't get excited now thinking U're doll isn't big enough for I think she is...My Tif was a big boned gal...And she was carring 6 puppies and here is their whelping weights below.
5.5 oz.
5.8 oz.
5.0 oz.
5.4 oz.
5.2 oz.
5.0 oz.
I didn't try to count our babies as I didn't want to hurt them by that...I wouldn't try counting them, they may get hurt if U don't know how to do it...& who knows one maybe behind another one. If she was having 8 her belly would be almost draging the ground ask Nana here about that hers delivered 8!!!
Yes they can act normal all day long then go into labor...On her past litter before this one I had no idea she was in labor until she got on me while I was taking a nap and was digging between my legs making her bed, I got up and put her in her whelping box and out came our 1st baby.
Now with our last litter she just didn't want to eat much that day, kinda laid around, and NEVER got into her whelping box till that night before she whelped...She got in there on and off all night long, digging and scooting her blankies around, would lay by me (I had a bed made on the floor beside her) get up go into her Big, Big pet taxi that I had her a bed made in then repeat it all again...Needless to say I didn't get any sleep that night for everytime she moved I was up thinking she was whelping...So they all can act different.
U'll just know when whelping time is coming Mother Nature will let U know. Don't worry so much, U're doing fine and she will too...Just remember when she does go into labor Don't Get Excited to much, for U'll get her excited...Dogs can feel U when U get upset...So just take long breaths and say We can do this...She'll know U're there to help her. U're gonna do great. U're in my thoughts too and prayers for a safe whelping. Hugs, Lee |
