I kept waiting for someone to come out with a screen that was truly easy on the eyes. I spend so much time on the computer that to have just one more computer screen would have made pleasure reading miserable for me. This is truly like reading a real book with the e-ink technology (the first). All other e-readers are like a computer screen. I love the free wireless and buying books off Amazon is 3-4 dollars cheaper than say Sony books. But...being honest Nikki, I don't think I recommend for children/young adults yet. The only reason being is if they read books with any illustrations they do not come out best on the Kindle (yet). I would wait for the next generation if I were you

I know the price seems high, however at 3-7 dollar savings off buying hardback/paperback books it will pay for itself for me in no time. Also, I have downloaded 20 + classics (Wuthering Heights, To Kill a Mocking Bird, just to name a couple) at no cost.

As with anything I recommend everyone read the forum boards, etc. before making a decision but for me it's love!
