I don't really think that is true. I just think a lot of people like buying for other people's babies and don't even realize how much they are spending until they put it in the box. Or at least that is how I am. You shouldn't stop doing it just because some people spend over the $20 limit. Everyone is happy when they get new and different goodies no matter how much they cost.
