Just an update as to something I am trying...

Since the weather warmed up I moved his inside pee pad (that he wasn't using) to outside. The first time I put him on it to go he was confused as he wanted to go on the grass. I didn't let him go and brought him back inside.

A few minutes later he wanted to go out again and I did the same thing. With the influence of a treat that he loves he imediatly went on it when I used his "Go" command. The rest of the day whenever I let him out he went straight to the pad and and I gave him a treat afterwards.

This pad outside seems to be successful so far. I have it on a pad holder so it doesn't fly away.

My next task (maybe tommorow) is to move the same pad inside and try to get him to go in it inside since I know he is comfortable using it. Hopefully he will pick it up so I can leave him at home an dlet him go on it.

I'm a little excited right now that he picked it up so quickly outside.

A few things I noticed,

1. After he went on the pad the first time he was faster to go back to it again as he was smelling the previous and it seemed to trigger something in him to go again. I changed it after a few uses.

2. The type of pad seems to make a difference. I had a cheap pad for petsmart and it worked. I had a more expensive one that my mother was using and he was a little reluctant to go on it for some reason but eventually did. I had a pad that was used in hospitals that I got for free and he was also comfortable going on it. I'm going to try and keep it consistant for him.
