Hi welcome to Yorkietalk. I agree I think crate training is the best idea too. When they are small the crate needs to be rather small or they will just pee on one side and sleep on the other. I would take Joey out probably two times at night and set him on a pee pad in the bathroom. I use to set the pee pad on a large tray, but he really never got use to it, so I'm not sure you'll have much luck with a litter box, although some people do. Be patient, yorkies are harder to train than many breeds, maybe because their bladder is so small. I found washable pee pads worked better because he seemed to like to play with the disposable ones. I don't know how old your children are, but I know yorkies sometimes get scared with quick jerky movements that children make. Remember too that puppies love to chew and their puppy teeth are extremely sharp, and they will sometimes bite. If this happens, it's best to say, "no" and give them a suitable toy to chew on. |
