Be sure to eat at sunset, with view. The spa is one of the best, even for this area (which is spa haven). Grand Canyon is around 4 hours away, would be worth it. Sedona is around 2-2.5 hours - and incredible as well. You could actually see (stay at) Sedona on the way to Grand Canyon. Another popular stop nearby Sedona is Montezuma's Castle (old ruins). The drive out of Sedona toward Flagstaff is incredible (again, this is toward Grand Canyon). So, you'd probably see mostly the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Another fun place to eat in PHX is Elements at The Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain (the mountain right in the city of Phoenix). Elements has a great view - incredible food and chef, wine. Great shopping nearby too!

I didn't know you lived in Phoenix! We go to Phoenix all the time to visit my daughter. In fact we will be stopping there on our way home from the KC meetup. We usually stay at the La Quinta in Scottsdale on Shea Blvd, but LOVE finding great places to eat. We are going to have to get together and chat some before we come out that way again.
