Could you post the original thread? If the mom is carrying the boy it may be because he has a problem that she can sense or it may be that there is too much hubbub around her whelping box and she wants to move them somewhere she feels more secure. It's important to watch this very closely, the pup or the others can get cold very quickly if left. Is this her first litter? She may be just confused. I would suggest confining her in an ex-pen with the whelping box at one end and food and drink for mom. Allow her out for potty breaks, but not with a pup in her mouth. She won't be able to get to far with him if confined, and may quit trying. Also, a heating pad placed halfway under the whelping box will keep the other kids warm if she's not staying in. I would probably bottle feed the boy every two hours to make sure he's getting enough and make sure there isn't excess bedding that she can bury him in. |
