I think it also has alot to do with bone structure of the dame whether large or small. My own personal experience is an average litter of 4, dames 5 lbs or slightly under, smaller litters and higher percentage of mortality rate for puppies. But again its genetics too. ( I do not bred less the 4 3/4 lbs)
I do not have years of experience either and that also can play a big role in reportings.
