Oh MY - you MUST MUST eat at KAI, but you probably already know that, right? It will likely be an eating experience of a lifetime, and I do not exaggerate - even if you are a "foodie". Be sure to eat at sunset, with view. The spa is one of the best, even for this area (which is spa haven). Grand Canyon is around 4 hours away, would be worth it. Sedona is around 2-2.5 hours - and incredible as well. You could actually see (stay at) Sedona on the way to Grand Canyon. Another popular stop nearby Sedona is Montezuma's Castle (old ruins). The drive out of Sedona toward Flagstaff is incredible (again, this is toward Grand Canyon). So, you'd probably see mostly the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Another fun place to eat in PHX is Elements at The Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain (the mountain right in the city of Phoenix). Elements has a great view - incredible food and chef, wine. Great shopping nearby too!

I could go on and on....
