Animal Smiley 036 Problem in Bed

We have a problem. Both Mozart (10 yrs old) and Emmy (1 yr old) sleep in bed with us. Recently Emmy has been waking up from a deep sleep and jumping and growling at Mozart. I guess maybe he moves, and it startles her. He has gotten so scared that he doesn't want to be anywhere near her on the bed. He jumps in my husband's or my arms and starts to breathe heavily. It scares me because he is getting older now. She, on the other hand, feels bad after she does it and tries to nuzzle him. He wants nothing to do with her at that time. I have scolded her, but I feel bad because I don't think she means to do it. I am confused as to what to do about it. Any suggestions?
