Your vet is quite right!...If you give any calcium supplements you must continue the supplement until weaning...If you stop giving the supplement she will no longer produce the calcium on her own and has a higher risk of eclampsia...We do not feed puppy food to mom either...You do not want your mom to gain an overabundant amount of weight...The extra calories will go to puppies first and then to mom...Too many calories to the pups make for fat pups that are difficult to whelp...We increase the food intake about 25% the last couple of weeks...Good luck with your litter!
