Wooden bats, yelling, hitting usually will not stop a pitt while attacking. Almost all dogs shed as well as cats, goats, horses and people. Maybe all of them should be banned also. Babies howl and whine all the time too, just as loudly as bloodhounds and coon hounds. They should be put on the banned list also.

These dogs will attack and kill the same way pits do. I've seen it. They are all dogs with the same instincts.
My point is, many things said about the pit bull can be said about other breeds as well. Its just that they don't have the same stigma. Dogs are dogs. I would own a pit bull in a heartbeat if i had the room. There are tons of other breeds that i would NOT own because they have more unpredictable behavior.
Certain dog breeds need to be respected and handled a certain way. Pit bulls give warning when they are unhappy about something. They show certain signs while they are becoming agitated so you can prevent an attack. Rotties, german shepards, huskies, chow chows, etc... do not. they are very hard to read and will snap in a second. Many people own these said breeds with no problems at all just like many people own pit bulls with no problems at all. In the wrong hands, any breed can turn.
