If you got your male from a pet store - chances are pretty much he came from a Puppy Mill. Reputable breeders will always want to check out whom their pups go to and meet prospected buyers first.
I know you love you boy, but please do your research. We have so many pups now that are not to standard. And you do not know what health problems any of these prospected pups could have. I would not risk it.
Just enjoy your baby.
