My heart almost stopped just reading this! What a scarry thing but a happy outcome. A valuable lesson should be learned by all who read this ... thanks so much for sharing! Chances are if not for your quick thinking and
sitting down the outcome could have been devistating.
I just have to share a similar incident ... my friend and her husband were travelling and came upon an accident. A truck had gone off the interstate and rolled down an embankment. They slowly passed and then realized the traffic was stopping again. A little Pug was in the road ahead and was frantically running back & forth in traffic! She screamed for her husband to stop as she threw open her door and ran for the pup scaring him more. She promptly plopped down in the middle of the interstate, calling to him. He immediately ran and lept onto her lap ... she hugged him close and ran back to her car. She handed him over to those who were with his owner ... the man in the truck! I have always believed that getting down to their level is more calming than anything for freightened animals!
