As long as you are happy with your Yorkie, it shouldn't matter what you paid for him or her. Don't let other people make you feel bad about your new family member. It's your money, it's your decision, it's your life. Whether you paid $0 or $25,000, it really doesn't involve anyone else but your immediate family!
Also, prices on both coasts are probably a bit pricier than the Midwest. And certain cities (like NYC, or LA) will bump up the price as well mainly because of the cost of living.
But an average person will probably think you are crazy if you paid a few thousand even, which is why I usually never tell anyone how much we got Yoda for (he was just average priced, but priceless to us!). Your Yorkie does sound like a pure angel, full of joy and appreciation. Give it a few years, and I'll bet you feel that he's worth every penny you paid for him! We fell in love with our Yoda's personality too, even though he was a tiny bit more than his brothers and sisters of the litter. We never know when we'll fall in love!
