Default Is it Okay to Call a vets office for reference?

I was thinking about calling a breeders veterinarians office to check the health status on her dam and sire. I was wondering if this was okay to do.. It seems sneaky but I know if she has nothing to hide this should be okay. But I was wondering if the office staff would offer this info to me. I don't think she knows this is the reason why I wanted to know where she treats her animals. I have worked for an animal hospital before but never had anyone call me for this kind of info..is it wrong? Is it like humans health records..off limits and private? I am spending alot of money on her pup, I need to make sure the parents really have no medical issues..
